Schools Out Youth Pool Extravaganza Makes a Splash in Whittlesea

Belgravia Foundation are pleased to showcase the return of the “Schools Out” Youth Pool Extravaganza, following the success of last year’s event in 2024. On Thursday, 18 December 2025, the Whittlesea Swim Centre transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, welcoming approximately 350 young people from 15 local high schools for a free, three-hour celebration of fun, health, and social connection. This remarkable growth from last year’s attendance of 170 participants highlights the increasing impact and popularity of the initiative.

The event was developed in response to the Active Whittlesea Community Engagement Plan 2023–2028, which recognises youth as an underrepresented group in community recreation. Connecting young people to the Whittlesea Swim Centre to support their wellbeing and sense of belonging remains a key priority. To ensure the event reflected youth voices, members of the Whittlesea Secondary College student leadership group played a pivotal role in shaping the program. From acting as MCs to coordinating pool games and encouraging participation, their leadership ensured the day was engaging and inclusive.

The atmosphere was electric, with upbeat music setting the tone, a giant commando inflatable adding excitement, and pool games fostering friendly competition. A classic sausage sizzle, generously supported by Gillys Meats, Champion’s IGA, and cooked by volunteers from the Whittlesea Rotary Club kept everyone fuelled for the fun. This collaborative effort between local schools, businesses, and community organisations including Whittlesea City Council Youth Services, Belgravia Leisure, and the Whittlesea Swim Centre was instrumental in making the event a success.

With perfect weather and record-breaking attendance, the return of the “Schools Out” Youth Pool Party reinforces the power of community partnerships and youth empowerment. Belgravia Foundation is delighted to support initiatives that promote health, connection, and a sense of belonging for young people in Whittlesea. This event not only celebrates the end of the school year but also sets a strong foundation for future programs that continue to engage and inspire youth across the region.
