Belgravia Foundation welcomes Ruby Southam to the team
Belgravia Foundation strives to support the entire leisure sector through multi-layered activities. Supporting the next generation of workers and leaders is one part of this. Through carefully planned and supported activities, people who seek to gain experience and deeper understanding related to health, diversity, inclusion and leisure can gain knowledge and skills that can be carried forward and influence their work for years to come.
Belgravia Foundation and Belgravia Leisure are currently hosting Ruby Southam, a student at Monash University completing field placement. Below Ms Southam comments on this exciting opportunity, her inspirations and how she can share her expertise to create positive outcomes for both organisations.
“My name is Ruby Southam, and I am currently in my final year at Monash University studying my Bachelor of Heath Science. For my placement, I have been allocated with Belgravia Foundation and am very grateful for this opportunity and excited to be apart of a new team that has so much experience in the public health field.
Studying at Monash I have developed new skills, knowledge and opportunities to understand how public health is so engraved into our daily lives. I am excited for this new experience and having the ability to apply my knowledge, contribute and communicate with others working in the field and learning from their experiences. Aspects of my studies I am passionate about are the social behaviours and attitudes that influence health, the prevention of disease and negative health-related behaviours and well as planning and evaluating health programs.
Being an active kid (and adult), I have always been a part of the sporting and leisure community that has provided me with lifelong skills, friends, and the opportunity to develop skills such as decision making, tactical practices and social interaction; all skills everyone should be able to experience in such a fun environment.
I am so thankful for this opportunity and excited to get started with the Belgravia Foundation and understand their purpose and involvement in the community more but to also expand my experiences.”
