Fitness Australia recognises Belgravia Foundation with prestigious Chair’s Award

Belgravia Foundation, in partnership with Belgravia Leisure, have been awarded the prestigious Fitness Australia Chair’s Award at Fitness Australia’s Annual General Meeting, held on the 25th of November.

The Chair’s Award recognises members of Fitness Australia’s Board, Councils, Committees, Advisory bodies or a Taskforce who have made a significant contribution to the work of that group and to Fitness Australia.

Belgravia Foundation and Belgravia Leisure were presented the awarded for their Mental Health eLearning Program (MHeLP), an innovative eLearning program developed under the guidance of international mental health and exercise experts.

MHeLP was designed for the New Zealand and Australian leisure and community support sectors to equip workers and volunteers with strategies to support themselves and the mental health of others. MHeLP is completely free and earns learners two continuing education credits.

Belgravia Foundation’s CEO Dr Jeff Walkley is honoured that the program has received so much industry recognition and support. “When we created MHeLP, we were looking to fill a very important gap in the industry. We wanted to provide our industry’s workers and volunteers with the training and confidence to recognise the signs of mental illness in themselves and others, and give them the tools and strategies to support their mental health and those around them.

We are pleased that MHeLP has received such a distinguished award in our industry, and that it is achieving the objectives for which it was created – to provide support for the mental health of our workers and volunteers, and the communities in which they serve,” said Dr Walkley.
