Celebrating International Day for People with Disability 2020
International Day of People with Disability is celebrated on 3rd December every year to highlight the achievements of people with disability and promote awareness, understanding and acceptance in the community. This year, events were spread from the 30th November to 6th December and encompassed the theme “See the Ability in Disability.” Belgravia Foundation would like to congratulate Belgravia Leisure venues who recognised the day by hosting free activities for people with a disability, holding awareness morning/afternoon tea for team members and community members, or simply displaying posters to show support.
Despite restrictions, Belgravia Leisure’s Mornington Peninsula venues were able to celebrate virtually with Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and International Day of People with a Disability Committee. To view the video, click here.
Yarrambat Park Golf Course hosted a group of people from Health Ability Support Services to participate in an inclusive golf clinic. Aaron Atwell, an All Abilities accredited PGA profession, planned a jam-packed morning of golf skill development with modified golf equipment and a round of mini golf at Goanna Golf, finished with a lunch in the Grasslands restaurant on site. Much fun was had by all!
Belgravia Foundation would like to emphasise the importance of sharing your messages of inclusion and diversity during these times to help break down barriers, and promote a welcoming, safe and equitable space for all. Remember, if you can’t see it, you can’t be it! Lastly, celebrate the ability in disability all year round!
