Belgravia Foundation Recognises MOVE Moonee Valley’s Commitment to Inclusive Wellbeing Initiatives

Belgravia Foundation acknowledges the "Celebrating Women's Wellbeing" workshop at MOVE Moonee Valley’s Ascot Vale Leisure Centre as a powerful example of how community consultation and collaboration shape meaningful and inclusive leisure programs.

This initiative, led by MOVE Moonee Valley Community Engagement Coordinator Jaye, demonstrates the impact of listening to community needs before delivering programs, ensuring that leisure opportunities are accessible, relevant, and empowering for all.

This free workshop was delivered in partnership with Neami National’s Partners in Wellbeing Program and in alignment with Harmony Week 2025, providing participants with the opportunity to explore strategies for managing stress and improving overall wellbeing. Designed to create a safe and welcoming space for women, the session covered:

  • Understanding what wellbeing means and its different aspects

  • Recognising signs of low wellbeing and mental health challenges

  • Examining how stress affects the body and mind

  • Exploring practical wellbeing strategies to support everyday life

  • Engaging in a guided mindfulness activity to promote relaxation and focus

  • Learning about free mental health support services available through the Partners in Wellbeing Program

With nine women in attendance, the workshop provided a supportive environment where participants could openly discuss their wellbeing, gain valuable insights, and build confidence in applying new strategies to their daily lives. Feedback from attendees reinforced the value of creating community-driven wellbeing programs that cater to diverse needs and experiences.

This initiative is a testament to MOVE Moonee Valley’s commitment to consulting with community members and forming strategic partnerships to ensure programs are inclusive, responsive, and impactful. By working closely with organisations like Neami National, MOVE Moonee Valley continues to develop leisure-based wellbeing initiatives that support mental and emotional health while fostering connection and resilience within the community.

Belgravia Foundation continues advocating for diversity and inclusive practices in leisure, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in activities that enhance wellbeing and create a sense of belonging. The success of this event highlights the importance of embedding inclusive principles and community collaboration into leisure programming, reinforcing the role of leisure as a vital tool for holistic health and social connection.
