Belgravia Foundation celebrates Immersion Therapy at AUSActive Awards
Belgravia Foundation proudly celebrates its partner’s recent recognition of Immersion Therapy as a groundbreaking innovation in the allied health and aquatic recreation space. The program took home the Industry Innovation Award at the 2024 AUSactive National Awards Gala, held on October 11, 2024. This accolade further solidifies the program’s transformative impact on the health sector and its ongoing success in supporting diverse communities.
Immersion Therapy, founded by Determined2, uses SCUBA equipment to create a weightless underwater environment that provides therapeutic benefits for individuals with conditions such as autism, anxiety, depression, MS, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and soft tissue injuries. The service is one of the first of its kind in the world, offering a unique and evidence-based solution that is revolutionising the way clinical conditions are treated.
This win marks a consecutive triumph for Belgravia Foundation and its partners, following the 2023 Industry Innovation Award for Cérge, an app that enhances the guest experience for people with disabilities visiting community venues. These accolades highlight Belgravia Leisure’s commitment to fostering innovative, inclusive programs that make a meaningful difference in people's lives.
Geoff Lord, Chairman and CEO of Belgravia Group, was also recognised with the AUSactive Chair Award for his exceptional contributions to the health, fitness, and leisure industries. His leadership and dedication to programs like Immersion Therapy earned him a standing ovation at the event. Additionally, Lord made a personal donation to ensure that those unable to afford the service would not miss out on the benefits of Immersion Therapy.
Kia Naylor, Belgravia Leisure's Allied Health Manager, expressed her excitement and pride in Immersion Therapy’s success. “Allowing clients to experience a newfound sense of freedom in the water, while using exercise as a treatment for clinical conditions, means that Immersion Therapy is truly a therapy of the future. We’re thrilled that the hard work of the team is being recognised, and their dedication continues to have a positive impact on the community.”
The partnership between Belgravia Foundation and Determined2 will soon expand, bringing Immersion Therapy to more locations across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring greater access for individuals who could previously face geographical barriers. This expansion signifies a major step in making this life-changing therapy accessible to more people in need.
The AUSactive National Awards, formerly the Fitness Australia Awards, continue to serve as a platform to celebrate innovation, excellence, and dedication within the fitness, health, and leisure industries. The recognition of Immersion Therapy highlights the importance of inclusive, cutting-edge programs that support the well-being of individuals, regardless of their condition.
