Belgravia Foundation celebrates growth in program inclusivity at MOVE

Belgravia Foundation highlights the recent partnership of MOVE Moonee Valley with Blind Sports and Recreation Victoria for Inclusive Accessing All Abilities Swim and Social Program

Belgravia Foundation is thrilled to announce the successful grant application that paves the way for an exciting new initiative in collaboration with Belgravia Leisure, Moonee Valley and Blind Sports and Recreation Victoria (BSRV). This partnership will launch a bespoke AAA Swim and Social Program session specifically designed for blind and low-vision participants in December 2024, reinforcing the commitment to creating an inclusive culture within the community.

This innovative initiative will integrate BSRV participants with current members of MOVE Moonee Valley’s AAA Swim and Social Program, promoting inclusivity and expanding opportunities for a diverse audience. To ensure that staff are equipped to provide the best possible experience, BSRV will deliver specialised training called Visualised Awareness Training for up to 30 MOVE Moonee Valley staff members. Thanks to grant funding, this essential training will be provided at no cost. Staff will learn about common eye conditions, effective communication techniques, the importance of verbal descriptions, and best practices for supporting individuals with vision impairments in recreational activities.

Belgravia Foundation is proud to see MOVE Moonee Valley continually finding ways to make their programs more inclusive and accessible, ensuring that there are no barriers to accessing aquatic, health, and wellness opportunities. The AAA Swim and Social Program embodies MOVE Moonee Valley's dedication to fostering a welcoming environment for all. This partnership with BSRV marks a significant milestone in the journey toward ensuring that all community members, regardless of ability, can enjoy and benefit from aquatic programs. We look forward to celebrating the positive impact of this initiative and the lasting relationships it will build within our community.
