Grace Li joins Belgravia Foundation team

Belgravia Foundation is pleased to be hosting Grace Li, who is in the final year of her Health Science degree at Monash University and will be completing her fieldwork placement with Belgravia Foundation and Belgravia Leisure.

Having studied Health Science for the past three years, the degree has provided Grace with the ability to apply scientific approaches to improve health challenges, keeping in mind the physiological, behavioural, developmental, social and environmental aspects of human health. Upon taking up some of the courses related to Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and Health Program Planning, the degree has greatly sparked Grace’s passion for health promotion, as well as her eagerness to care for others by helping people to improve their health and well-being.

Grace’s passion to care for others has been demonstrated by her volunteer works at ‘Make-a-wish’ Foundation (a children’s charity organization that supports and grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses) and Willing Hearts (a charity that provides daily meals and other support services to the underprivileged, the needy, and other marginalized members).

As an event volunteer for ‘Make-a-wish’ Foundation, she participated in fundraising events such as their Designer Warehouse Sale program, which raises funds for the organisation to help fulfil life-changing wishes for children who are fighting critical illnesses. At Willing Hearts, she helped in the soup kitchen to prepare, cook and distribute daily meals to the elderly, the disabled, low-income families and children from single-parent families. Grace hopes that by actively volunteering, she can make a difference in the lives of others.

Having expressed her strong interest in the health issue of diabetes, one of the placement projects that Belgravia Foundation and Belgravia Leisure will be offering her to participate in is the Life! Program. Grace is extremely excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the Life! Program, which is a lifestyle modification program that helps people to reduce their risk of Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

In terms of Grace’s career aspirations, she would like to pursue a career in health promotion and program planning. She hopes that in the future, she can have a chance to develop and implement her own health program that promotes health and prevent disease for the community.

Grace believes that working with Belgravia Foundation and Belgravia Leisure will be a valuable experience that allows her to utilise the knowledge she had gained from her degree study and contribute to the organisation, as well as gaining practical experience in preparation for embarking on a career in health promotion.
