Belgravia Foundation recognises Mill Park Leisure's passion to support employment pathways for local young people
Employment is integral to financial independence, and health and happiness are typically linked outcomes. Belgravia Foundation is supporting the leisure sector to untap the potential of ‘employment’, and particularly targeted toward youth and those who find it difficult to gain and sustain employment, as a ‘new’ community contribution, adding to the facilities, programs and services made available to support healthy living.
Belgravia Leisure is working with Belgravia Foundation in a suite of innovative employment strategies to enable the potential of employment to be realised.
On Thursday 3 February 2022, Mill Park Leisure hosted the “Dive into the leisure and hospitality sectors” local jobs fair.
Several Jobs Victoria local partners, along with Whittlesea Council’s Economic Development Unit, joined Belgravia’s staff from Mill Park Leisure, Thomastown Recreation & Aquatic Centre and Whittlesea Swim Centre in hosting the event, providing speakers, running workshops and holding information stalls.
Mill Park Leisure Manager, Amanda Watson, presented Belgravia Leisure’s ‘Simply the best summer jobs’ program, urged participants to consider employment in the leisure industry, interviewed a staff member for the audience and highlighted positions for immediate start.
The event attracted about 40 local participates in the 16-30 age group, and was considered a success by the organisers. Several participants gained employment with Belgravia Leisure, starting them on a pathway to financial independence, and improved health and happiness.
