Belgravia Foundation's Golf for Good initiatives

During the month of February, Belgravia Foundation teamed up with Belgravia Leisure golf venues to host Golf for Good initiatives across Australia. Golf for Good aims to provide opportunities for all to participate in all golf has to offer (eg. golf, mini golf, pro lessons, employment) through local activities, programs and fundraisers with the community.

Belgravia Leisure golf venues recognise through local community conversation and consultation that many underrepresented groups miss out on the opportunity to play golf due to a number of varying barriers including; cost, lack of tailored programs, inclusive equipment, accessible golf courses, trained professionals and welcoming staff. Participating golf venues took a community engagement approach to listen and learn from their community’s representatives and champions to understand their needs, interests and current gaps in services related to participation in golf. Through these learnings from the community some fantastic initiatives were co-designed between local stakeholders including:

·       Inclusive Golf Clinics

·       All Abilities Mini Golf

·       Mini Golf Champions

·       Charity Golf Tournament

·       Get Together Club

Keilor Park Golf Course hosted a 4 Ball Ambrose Golf Event accompanied by a sausage sizzle. All proceeds from the day will go back into the community to subsidise All Abilities golf clinics for people with a disability.

Spring Park Golf Course hosted an All Abilities Mini Golf day. All proceeds from the day will go back into the community through local disability service providers that love playing a social game of mini golf with friends.

The initiatives provided an opportunity for underrepresented groups to come together and participate in the community in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment, whilst also raising awareness and funds for future initiatives. Belgravia Foundation would like to congratulate Belgravia Leisure’s golf venues for co-designing unique community programs for all.
