A commitment to work together to create good community outcomes for youth has emerged between Belgravia Foundation and Blue Light Foundation. Initiated at the Belgravia Foundation Inspiration Breakfast in early 2023, both organisations have identified the potential ‘multiplier effect’ of collaboration through linking together in support of youth in communities across Victoria. 

Established in 1976, Blue Light Victoria is an independent for-purpose charity, fondly remembered by many for its’ sustained commitment to youth, and of course those iconic Blue Light Discos.  Since inception, Blue Light Victoria has grown the supports it offers to youth and communities to a myriad of events, activities, programs and supports targeting youth, and engaging with established community-based organisations that share a similar mission to support youth. 

In line with best practice approaches to create impactful and sustainable community-based supports for youth, Belgravia Foundation and Blue Light Victoria have undertaken planning to identify multiple sites in which to trial various initiatives. Aligned with the mantra ‘nothing about us, without us’ this approach will use action research processes, co-action with participants and community stakeholders, and strive to provide a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive experience for all.  Innovation partner Belgravia Leisure will provide much needed community resources and opportunities to connect youth to everything the leisure sector can offer to youth – facilities, programs, services, and employment, targeting youth who through various circumstances have previously had fewer opportunities to connect to leisure.
