Belgravia Foundation help celebrate togetherness at Active Whittlesea's Christmas Extravaganza

Whittlesea's Active Adults, a vibrant community from Active Whittlesea's Mill Park Leisure, TRAC, and Whittlesea Swim Centre, came together for a joyous occasion at the Epping RSL on Tuesday, 28th November. With 110 guests in attendance, the Active Whittlesea Member's Christmas Extravaganza was a heartwarming event filled with festive cheer.

Against the backdrop of a traditional Christmas lunch, the program unfolded with delightful performances and activities. Annie Stanford-Rossini serenaded the audience with old-time Christmas songs, while 'Those Epping Ukes' and 'The Greenbrook Choir' added musical magic to the atmosphere. Laughter echoed through the venue thanks to the comedic aquatic instructors' skit by 'The Aquatic Ladies.' Trivia and Lucky Door prizes added an element of excitement to the festivities.

The event also served as the platform for announcing the winners of various competitions. Mrs. Carole Light secured the Belgravia Foundation's charity fundraiser draw, earning a 12-month Gold Membership. Mrs. Glenda Shearwood, the creative mind behind the winning entry in the Active Adults New Name Competition, received a 3-month Gold Membership. Additionally, Mrs. Jeka Solaja was the lucky recipient of the door prize hamper.

An exciting highlight was the unveiling of the new name for Whittlesea's Active Adults, a result of a recent competition. The name "Fitness & Fun In Training," likely to be stylised as "2XFIT," was introduced and is set to be widely recognised in early 2024.

The event was not just a celebration but also a gesture of goodwill. A Belgravia Foundation fundraiser held during the occasion raised $379 for local programs benefiting underrepresented older individuals, highlighting the community's commitment to social impact.

The success of the event was a testament to the collaborative effort of Active Whittlesea, particularly the commendable work of Everlyn Ransley and the event committee. Gratitude was extended to the Belgravia Leisure staff for their valuable contributions, ensuring the event was a resounding success.

As 2023 comes to a close, Belgravia Foundation extends warm wishes for a joyful and safe festive season and a fantastic New Year to all its supporters. Witnessing many Christmas events like Active Whittlesea’s stands as a memorable way to wrap up the year, fostering a spirit of togetherness, laughter, and celebration amongst the communities in which we are a part of.
