Belgravia Foundation celebrates Aquarena's 50th birthday
On Saturday 30th November, Aquarena hosted its 50th Birthday Celebration!
The event ran from 12.00pm - 7.00pm and hosted approximately 600 people on the beautifully sunny afternoon. Official proceedings begun with a welcome to country and smoking ceremony from Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Colin Hunter Jnr. Representatives from Manningham Council, including CEO Andrew Day and Deputy Major Mike Zafiropoulos, spoke to the history of Aquarena and how successful it has been in facilitating a recreation hub for the community over so many decades.
Belgravia Foundation CEO, Dr. Jeff Walkley, then announced Aquarena’s involvement with the Take Charge project in support of people with mental health conditions in the region.
The event raised close to $1000 for the Belgravia Foundation. The money raised by the local community will stay in Manningham to support to those living with mental health conditions as a part of the Take Charge program.
