Belgravia Foundation welcomes Wen to the team

Hello, my name is Wen! As a third-year Health Science student at Monash University, I’m incredibly excited to begin my placement with Belgravia Foundation and Belgravia Leisure. This experience marks my first valuable step towards entering the health sector, and I’m deeply grateful to be welcomed into an organisation that champions health, wellbeing, and community connection.

Monash has equipped me with a solid foundation, from human physiology and health behaviours to the social and environmental factors that shape health outcomes. I’ve also explored public health prevention, program evaluation, and current health challenges through my coursework.

What resonates with me most is Belgravia’s commitment to inclusive, community-focused initiatives like the Take Charge Exercise Program. By integrating structured physical activity with mental health support and social connection, the program reflects the type of inclusive care I’m passionate about. As a Mental Health First Aider, I’m inspired by how Belgravia promotes stigma-free, supportive spaces where wellbeing is prioritised,  not just for participants but across staff and teams, as seen in their Mental Health eLearning modules and psychosocial health resources.

Electives in communication, nutrition, and language studies in Japanese and Korean have deepened my cross-cultural understanding and strengthened my ability to connect with diverse communities. Alongside my fitness accreditation and growing interest in music therapy, these experiences fuel my passion for creating inclusive, supportive spaces. I’m especially keen to explore how patient-centred approaches to wellbeing can be implemented in real-world settings like Belgravia Leisure.

This placement offers me the opportunity to give back to the community while continuing to grow, both personally and professionally, as I apply everything I’ve learned in a hands on, real-world environment. I can’t wait to see where this journey leads!
