Dog’s Day out at Swan Hill Outdoor Pool
Located three and half hours north-west of Melbourne, situated on the lands of the Latji Latji, Wemba Wemba, Barapa Barapa and the Wadi Wadi Nations, you will find yourself in the beautiful region of Swan Hill.
Dog lovers of the region were treated to a paw-some event late in March at the Swan Hill Outdoor Pool, raising funds for Belgravia Foundation to enable greater access for all to connect to aquatic and leisure opportunities.
The Dog’s Day Out event was a barking success with 33 dogs booked to make a splash, with additional sessions created to accommodate demand on the day. Local dogs and their owners enjoyed a day out in the sun, with the dogs taking full advantage of the opportunity to swim and play in the pool. The event also featured hotdogs and homemade dog biscuits, raising $450 for the Belgravia Foundation to conduct a 4–6 week swimming program for 20 children who are experiencing financial hardship within the Swan Hill region. The swimming program initiative was identified at Swan Hill’s recent Community Network Forum, where key community stakeholders participated in discussions focused on how they can collectively support the community to ensure no one misses out on leisure, recreation, aquatics, fitness, sport and employment.
“We are thrilled with the event’s success and seeing so many people and dogs having fun. The funds raised will benefit the community, and the vision of dogs swimming and playing was a delight for all involved,” said Youth Activation Officer and event organiser Dani Fleming.
Local news station WIN News Bendigo covered the event, capturing some of the fun moments of the day. They showcased the joy and excitement of the dogs as they enjoyed a ‘barking good time’! Including dogs swimming, jumping and playing with their owners, the coverage will help spread the word about the event and encourage even more people to attend next year.
Belgravia Foundation congratulates the team at Swan Hill Outdoor Pool for hosting a paw-some event for a great cause!
